48 <br /> Seetion II <br /> Chapel Hill/Carrboro School District <br /> Elementary <br /> The previous year(2018-19)projections for November 2019 at this level were overestimated by <br /> 85 students. The actual membership decreased by 108 students. Over the previous ten years, <br /> this level has shown varying increases and decreases in growth rates. Following a significant <br /> increase (168 students) in 2011-12, this level has experienced a decrease in four out of the five <br /> previous school years including this year. Growth rates during the past ten years have ranged <br /> from-1.57%to+3.17%. The district's eleventh elementary school,Northside Elementary <br /> School, opened in 2013. Capacity was decreased in 2017-18 due to changes in class size <br /> averages for kindergarten to third grade by the North Carolina State Legislature. The need for an <br /> additional elementary school is not anticipated in the 10-year projection period. This is similar to <br /> last year's projections. <br /> Although not included in SAPFO school capacity or membership numbers, Pre-K programs <br /> continue to impact operations at District elementary schools where Pre-K programs exist. <br /> Specific impacts of Pre-K programs at the elementary school level will continue to be reviewed <br /> and discussed in the coming year. <br /> Middle <br /> The previous year(2018-19)projections for November 2019 for this level were underestimated <br /> by 82 students. The actual membership increased by 111 students. Over the previous ten years, <br /> this level has shown varying increases before experiencing a decrease in 2015-16 and 2016-17. <br /> Growth rates during this time period have ranged from -0.59%to+3.53%. Capacity was <br /> increased in 2014 with the opening of the Culbreth Middle School science wing. The need for an <br /> additional middle school is not anticipated in the 10-year projection period. This is similar to last <br /> year's projections. <br /> High School <br /> The previous year(2018-19)projections for November 2019 for this level were overestimated by <br /> 8 students. The actual membership increased by 8 students. Over the previous ten years, change <br /> has been variable with decreases in membership in four of the ten years. Growth rates during <br /> this time period have ranged from-0.90 to+4.39%. The need for additional high school capacity <br /> at Carrboro High School is not anticipated in the 10-year projection period. This is similar to last <br /> 30 <br />
