7 <br /> 1 Following this finding, 10-year projections were drafted utilizing the April 2019 numbers. <br /> 2 These projections showed the following school capacity needs in the 10-year projection <br /> 3 period: <br /> 4 o OCS — No capacity needs. <br /> 5 o CHCCS — Capacity needed 2026-27 school year. <br /> 6 SJAC also reviewed options to implement class size changes for SAPFO purposes. Ten <br /> 7 options were proposed and analyzed. Following elimination of seven options, the three <br /> 8 options still being explored are listed below: <br /> 9 o Suspend the Certificate of Adequate Public Schools (CAPS) test for the <br /> 10 elementary school level for a specified period of time (short-term solution) <br /> 11 o Discontinue the Certificate of Adequate Public Schools (CAPS) test for both <br /> 12 districts. (short-term solution) <br /> 13 o Fund the construction of a "school swing space" (mid-term solution) <br /> 14 <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Pre-K <br /> 17 As a result of the findings at the April 10 SJAC meeting, school representatives identified <br /> 18 concerns with Pre-K classroom capacities being included in total elementary school capacity <br /> 19 numbers and whether a review of the existing MOUs is warranted to exclude the square <br /> 20 footage of Pre-K classrooms in total school capacity numbers. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Additional 10-year projections were drafted utilizing the April 2019 numbers, but excluding Pre- <br /> 23 K classroom capacity to determine impacts from class size changes. When Pre-K classroom <br /> 24 capacities are excluded, the impacts from reductions in class size is worsened at the <br /> 25 elementary school level. These projections showed the following school capacity needs in the <br /> 26 10-year projection period: <br /> 27 <br /> 28 • OCS — Capacity needed 2024-25 school year <br /> 29 • CHCCS — Capacity needed 2021-22 school year <br /> 30 <br /> 31 This information was presented at the Schools Collaboration meeting on October 18, 2019.
