Descriptions only include parts of their work related to food insecurity. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Meals on Wheels Chapel Hill- Carrboro <br /> 15 Mission: Chapel Hill/Carrboro Meals on Wheels nourishes the bodies and spirits of the <br /> 16 homebound with a balanced meal and the human connection they need to help them live <br /> 17 independently. Volunteers deliver a hot meal to the home every weekday. Resources and <br /> 18 referral services as needed <br /> 19 Goals & Services: <br /> 20 1. Provide affordable, nutritious and flavorful meals to the homebound individuals in the <br /> 21 community. <br /> 22 2. Reduce isolation, support independence and enhance the quality of life of our <br /> 23 recipients. <br /> 24 3. Engage families and community in partnerships that benefit both the volunteers and <br /> 25 recipients. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Farmer Foodshare <br /> 28 Mission: Farmer Foodshare connects people who grow food with people who need food <br /> 29 in ways that are economically sustainable and socially just. We believe that everyone has <br /> 30 a right to healthy, fresh food and that farmers deserve to make a fair wage—a system <br /> 31 where everyone wins. <br /> 32 Goals & Services: The Donation Station Program improves the health and nutrition of <br /> 33 residents in need by collecting fresh, local food gleaned from farmers' markets and/or <br /> 34 purchased from those farmers with funds donated by market shopper. Each farmers' <br /> 35 market is paired with a recipient agency of their choice. The fresh food is delivered the <br /> 36 day it is donated. The DSP and Community Foodshare Site projects are based on requests <br /> 37 from the participants of our partner organizations themselves. Includes: mobile market, <br /> 38 cooking classes and nutrition education. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Orange Congregations in Mission <br /> 41 Mission: To minister to the urgent needs of citizens of northern Orange County through <br /> 42 the volunteer efforts of diverse congregations and individuals inspired by faith in God, <br /> 43 and to enhance self-sufficiency and awareness of community resources. <br /> 44 Goals & Services: The Samaritan Relief Ministry provides groceries and additional <br /> 45 services to individuals and families.
