Orange County Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes, November 5, 2019
5:30pm, Seymour Center, Chapel Hill, NC

CALL TO ORDER by Vibeke Talley, Chair
• Members Present: Vibeke Talley (Chair) Martha Bell, Autumn Cox (Ombudsman), Bill
Morgan (last Orange County meeting), Annie Deaver (Orange County Department on
Aging, DOA ), Carol Kelly, Stephanie Boswell, Linda Davis
• Members Absent: Jackie Podger, Jerry Ann Gregory
• Member Resignation Confirmed: Stephanie Miller
• Visitor: Steven Day Applicant for Membership. Mr. Steven Day was introduced as an
applicant for committee membership. He has recently moved from Raleigh to Chapel
Hill, with experience in long term care in an administrative capacity. He is eligible
because of living in Orange County. We welcomed his interest and after further
discussion following his departure we felt him to be appropriate for membership, asking
that his application be forwarded to our County Commissioners for final approval.

OLD BUSINESS;
• Discussion/Approval Minutes July 9, 2019: Minutes approved as written.
NEW BUSINESS
• Membership:
o Bill Morgan and Linda Davis. This is Bill’s last meeting. He is relocating to Lee
County due to an employment opportunity. Bill’s presence is a loss to this
committee; he was wished future success, and all hoped he would eventually be
involved in further elder care volunteerism.
o We welcomed Linda Davis as a new member.
o Vibeke reminded all that recruiting is of the essence; we learned of a pamphlet
developed by the Triangle J personnel for just such a purpose. Autumn mentioned
she could have it redesigned to reflect Orange County and send copies to all members
who may request it for distribution.
o Carol Kelly & Vibeke Talley’s terms will expire prior to the next meeting (February
2020) and they agreed to an extension, as approved by the County Commissioners.
o Stephanie Boswell’s initial term originally expired in September however, at the next
commissioner’s meeting she wished to be reappointed and her request will be
forwarded for action.
o Vibeke reminded members that we will need to appoint a chair for the committee at
our February meeting. She has volunteered to remain if nominated. She has been an
exemplary leader, and all present members appreciated her volunteer efforts.

• Visit Reports
o Brookshire (10/02/2019): Accepted as written; noted follow-up to be done re: posting
of meal menus.
o Carol Woods (10/08/2019): Accepted with changes (typing errors)
o Carolina Pointe (10/08/2019): Accepted as written
o Parkview (10/29/2019): Accepted as written; follow-up visit concerns identified
