School Building Profiles & Prioritized Major Capital Plans <br /> Orange County Schools Board of Education has previously completed a Board <br /> facility retreat work session in order to review the facility building needs within the <br /> district. The projected facility needs from the comprehensive facilities assessment <br /> and from the list of identified projects for older schools range from $160-$220 <br /> million dollars and were categorized among three long-term options. <br /> Capital Needs Prioritized Options <br /> Repair, replacement or renovation of items, components or systems that are important to the <br /> health and safety of the students and staff and to sustain the overall operation of the facility. <br /> OPTION General maintenance and system service life upgrades. (state building code violations, health <br /> 1 department violations, handicapped accessibility issues, removal of hazardous material, security <br /> issues not being met by current systems) <br /> Repair and renovation of long-range items that also bring the class size square footage of <br /> OPTION elementary classrooms to 1,200 sf and/or meet future capacity needs and the Orange County <br /> 2 School Building Standards of 585 students for elementary schools. <br /> Repair and renovation of long-range items that also bring the class size square footage of <br /> OPTION I elementary classrooms to 1,200 sf and/or meet future capacity needs and the Orange County <br /> 3 School Building Standards of 637 students for elementary schools. Utilize sustainable <br /> approaches to extend building life while reducing overall maintenance and operation costs. <br /> The district's prioritized list for building improvements is consistent with the <br /> information listed in the facility assessment. <br />
