Sherita Cobb , Michelle Guarino , Dana Graves , Jay Bryan , Nick Allen <br /> Excused: Tina Sykes , Bernard Miles , Sharron Hinton ( sent proxy vote ) , Lee Barnes ( sent <br /> proxy vote) <br /> Welcome <br /> The meeting opened with a welcome from Chair, Meg McGurk and introductions . <br /> Minutes Review and Approval <br /> The Council reviewed the minutes from June 2017 . Carol McClelland motioned for minutes to <br /> be approved with one correction and was seconded by Stephanie Jones . Motion carried <br /> unanimously . <br /> Agency Roundtable <br /> Freedom House — The next Common Sense Parenting class will be Spanish (passed around <br /> flyers) and the class starts Saturday . <br /> Dispute Settlement Center — Val attended the National Restorative Justice Conference held in <br /> Oakland and was with 1 , 200 participants of diverse backgrounds — from youth to judges . She <br /> was able to sit in and experience a number of circles . It was the BEST conference she has ever <br /> been to in her career . <br /> Program has one open MDC referral and one open restorative justice referral . Just finished <br /> working with a youth who wrote an incredible letter of apology to the Hillsborough PD and hand <br /> delivered it to the Captain . <br /> Next week all Orange County School principals and assistance principals will receive training in <br /> restorative justice practices . Additionally , all elementary school teachers in 3 of the 7 schools <br /> will be trained over the next few weeks . <br /> DSC will be working with Boomerang and the Teen Center in Chapel Hill to hold 5 youth circles <br /> with 10 - 12 youth , law enforcement, and civic leader . <br /> Wrenn House — Agency has been doing some restructuring and Kelsey will now be rotating <br /> meetings with the new COO . There will be a new operations coordinator because Lateisha Ward <br /> is leaving . <br /> DJJData — June : 3 distinct juveniles , 3 complaints , 0 approved for court, 3 juveniles diverted, 0 <br /> juveniles in detention, 1 juvenile in Wrenn House for 14 days , 0 juveniles on electronic <br /> monitoring , and 0 juveniles committed to YDC . <br />
