Orange County and Durham County acquired � � � 1 -aces property � <br /> 01 for the new Little River Regional Pa* and Natural Area , The regional park wiq be jointly <br /> owned and managed by Orange and Durham counties in accordance with an inter- local <br /> sgraarr ant (yet to be developed ) . The counties have agreed to make the park available for a <br /> variety of lava- impact recreational uses , including hiking , picnic areas , horseback rid i ng and <br /> mountain bilging . Lame pordons of the park will remain in a natural state . <br /> Grande County , an behalf of bow Counties , is in the process of soiiciting bids for a contractor <br /> to davalop a conceptual design and site plan for the ,agreed-upon park facilities at the Little <br /> River Regional Park . The current timetable anticipates final site plan approval by ,duly 15 , <br /> 2002 and construction underway by early Fall . <br /> In the meantime , Durham County is considering awarding a matching grant to a local non- <br /> profit organizaWn that is interested in designing , constructing and maintaining mountain bile <br /> trails in the bark . The DurhammOrange Mountain Bile Organization ( DOME0 ) applied for <br /> 4 , 150 from Durham ' s (hatching Grant Program , administered by the Durham Open Space <br /> and Tails Commission ( DOST) . DDBT is an appointed citizen advisory turd to the Durham <br /> r ounc'I and Durham County Board of Commissioners for matters related to open space <br /> as well as pedestrian and bicycle issues . Grants are awarded on an annual basis in January <br />
