General Acquisition Evaluation Template Attachment 1
Meets County Goals The current protection of this large tract by OWASA helps to achieve County goals of protecting a
and Criteria? water supply watershed, prime forestland, natural area and wildlife habitat, and rural character
and open space in this largely undeveloped section of Bingham Township.
Opening all or a portion of this property for public use would achieve the County goal of
establishing a Bingham-Cane Creek District Park, identified in the Parks Element of the
Comprehensive Plan. Opening this land for public use would help address low-impact parkland
needs in this section of the County and take some pressure off Eno River State Park and Duke
Forest properties located in eastern parts of the County. The future opening Seven Mile Creek
Preserve (2004-05?) will also help in that regard. It may someday be possible to link this tract to
the Seven Mile Creek Preserve (3 miles away) and become part of the proposed Cane Creek to
Eno River rustic woodland trail and wildlife corridor network.
Conclusions [Placeholder]
Orange County ERCD
February 13, 2002
