US <br /> 3 : 30 PM <br /> Chapel Hill Town Hall with the Parks and Recreation staff. <br /> The design team was next scheduled to meet with the high school swim coaches . No one was <br /> available to meet during this time , but the following programming information was gathered for this . <br /> user group . <br /> ❑ The current site being considered for the aquatic center is desirable in relation to <br /> the distance between both schools . <br /> ElEach high school has their own swim coach . <br /> ❑ High schools currently compete using 25 yards as the preferred field of play-, <br /> ❑ Men =s and women = s teams compete during the same season <br /> ❑ Currently , both high schools share the Community Pool . . <br /> ❑ The school district compensates the Town of Chapel Hill for pool time based on <br /> 50 % of the published fee schedule . <br /> ❑ Three to four meets are held at the Community Pool each season . <br /> ElThere are no plans to develop aquatic facilities on school property in the near <br /> future . <br /> ❑ The swimming season is from December until the end of February. <br /> ❑ Currently , there is no aquatic physical education programming as part of the <br /> curriculum . <br /> 6 : 00 PM <br /> Chapel Hill Town Hall with the Advisory Committee. <br /> The design team next met with the steering committee for the Chapel Hill Aquatic Center. Josh Gurlitz <br /> and Scot Hunsaker presented an overview of the scope of the work being completed and approach <br /> in completing the assigned tasks . Scot Hunsaker then reviewed information gathered and presented <br /> several ideas for consideration in the study. It was discussed that a 50-meter pool configuration was <br /> a , common request in the community to provide for long -course swimming and increased number of <br /> short-course lanes . Discussion then took place regarding the difference of a venue facility (one with <br /> spectator seating ) or training facility ..for the community, to compete. at other l %ocations . A second <br /> concept of;a 2&yard by 25-meter pool was also presented and discussed for study. The 25 x 25 <br /> concept provides 10 25-yard lanes and 8 25-meter lanes . : The ability to provide multiple fields of play <br /> was -discussed . A leisure facility with increased recreation value was also discussed . The ability .of_. _ <br /> this space to accommodate lesson , Wellnessaand recreation programming was discussed - as a benefit. <br /> . 7 : 00 PM d <br /> Chapel Hill Town Hall , Council Chambers , Public Forum . <br /> At 7PM on February 31 , a Public Forum was held at the Town Hall and broadcast live on cable . <br /> Cable viewers were invited to call . in with . questions and comments . .The meeting was video taped , <br /> and reportedly, copies are available .
