The first phase of this study is <br /> a needs analysis : The Aquatic/Community Center Advisory Committee has met regularly over the <br /> past 6 months and during that time has commissioned several initiatives designed to identify <br /> community needs . These initiatives are described In this report. <br /> The committee found that the Town of Chapel Hill runs a wide variety of recreational <br /> programs that are heavily used and • current aquatic facilities are among the most popular . This has <br /> resulted in competition for limited aquatic facilities by several user groups . There are insufficient <br /> aquatic facilities in the number of lanes available for lap swimming . There is also insuff cient leisure <br /> arid/or children 's pool area .
