Chapel Hill <br /> Aquatic/Community Center. <br /> Needs Analysis <br /> to : Advisory Committee <br /> Chapel Hill Aquatic/Community Center <br /> Homestead Park <br /> Summary <br /> The Aquatic/Community Center Advisory Committee is charged . with overseeing . a <br /> conceptual plan study for a proposed Aquatic/Community center . The first phase of this study is <br /> a needs analysis : The Aquatic/Community Center Advisory Committee has met regularly over the <br /> past 6 months and during that time has commissioned several initiatives designed to identify <br /> community needs . These initiatives are described In this report. <br /> The committee found that the Town of Chapel Hill runs a wide variety of recreational <br /> programs that are heavily used and • current aquatic facilities are among the most popular . This has <br /> resulted in competition for limited aquatic facilities by several user groups . There are insufficient <br /> aquatic facilities in the number of lanes available for lap swimming . There is also insuff cient leisure <br /> arid/or children 's pool area . Other areas of deficiency include public meeting space , space•for crafts <br /> •classes and dance space . <br /> This report will be followed by a set of program and cost options for Council consideration <br /> based on the needs defined here . o. <br /> Charge/Goat . 4 . . , <br /> . . . . . <br /> in summer of 1999 the Cliape!
