Columbia St. Chapel Hill, NC 27516 Dear Rosemary : As you may recall, the Town of Chapel Hill appointed representatives to the Joint Master Recreation and Parks Plan Work Group in November 1997 . There were eight specific points identified in a charge given to the Work Group by the Board of Commissioners . The charge and list of work group members are attached for your reference . In summary, the work group will draft a plan which describes the best long-term solution for Recreation and Parks for Orange County . Although the Town of Chapel Hill has li representatives on the Work Group from the Town Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, I wanted to provide you with an update of Work Group activities since November . The following has transpired : December 18 1997 • The Steering Committee of the Work Group met for the initial organization meeting . March 25 , 1998 • The Steering Committee reviewed all previous collaborative planning reports including the January 1996 Assembly of Governments Recreation/Parks Reports and the May 1997 Managers Coordination of Recreation/Park Recommendations . • Received a report and discussed issues surrounding Payment4n-Lieu of Dedication . • Reviewed a GIS Map , developed by the County Planning Department, identifying recreational facilities in the county . • Discussed the availability of funds ( including bond funds) for the development of parks .
