Night Flight Basketball program , music classes , women Is defense <br /> training , exercise classes , babysitter training , etc. . <br /> • Create marketing efforts that include special materials for female programs . <br /> • Involve adolescent females in program planning . <br /> Issue 10 : Interagency Cooperation <br /> Finding : There are few opportunities for community-wide , communication and <br /> cooperation among the recreation departments and agencies that serve at-risk youth . <br /> Recommendations to Staff: <br /> • Create networks between recreation departments , schools , service organizations , <br /> churches , and other youth agencies to share information , recruit staff, provide mentors , <br /> provide facilities , provide interpretation services , and any other support needed to <br /> connect at-risk youth to positive and useful activity . <br /> • Request that The Orange County Manager' s Office initiate coordination of annual <br /> conferences , grant -writing workshops , round-table discussions , and other <br /> communication .forums sponsored by various agencies , schools , and departments . <br /> Conclusion <br /> Inherent in the recommendations is the need for more involvement by trained <br /> professionals , increased interagency cooperation , and wider community involvement by <br /> agencies and individuals in addressing the needs of at-risk youth . It is acknowledged <br /> that no single program or intervention will be the answer for the complex challenges at- <br /> risk youth present. However , if these recommendations are implemented collectively , and <br /> 11 <br /> if they complement the services of other. agencies , then our community could make a <br /> difference in the lives of at-risk youth . <br />
