If none can be found , <br /> they can seekta replacement somewhere else . . <br /> The developers can create conservation easements on <br /> those properties , although the actual holder of the <br /> easement is sometimes controversial , with the county , <br /> Yellow County Land Trust, and the city all vying for control . <br /> • Often , the Land Trust will find money to pay for the <br /> easement , with the city providing matching funds which <br /> they have budgeted . <br /> Payment - in - lieu option . <br /> • A payment- in - lieu option of $ 2000 per acre is also <br /> available to the developer, although it is less desirable . <br /> • Money acquired spent within the genera-1 plan area . <br /> • This option is more expensive than the easements for <br /> developers and they can often find farmers willing to sell <br /> some of their land . <br /> • Other : <br /> • Some local farmers create conservation easements on their own <br /> Focus of Acquisition : <br /> • The city concentrates its efforts around one creek in particular. <br /> • As the city acquires land around it, the Army Corps of Engineers will <br /> come in and repair it back to its original form under an 1135 grant. <br /> • Besides the creek, acquire land all over the city . <br /> • Made decision to buy more properties vs . one small piece_ <br /> • Now in 'the process of creating a matrix of easements to <br /> provide a picture of what they have , * the gaps that might <br /> exist , and what is happening with the properties . <br />
