Draft
4/ 28/ 99
i ) Acquire additional property for " Pathway Drive Mini - Park " and
fully develop .
4 . Town of Hillsborough
The Hillsborough Parks and Recreation Master Plan was approved
in 1993 . Its goals are still valid although additional needs have
arisen that indicate the Master Plan is due for an update . A
recent annexation to the Town for a new subdivision coupled
with substantial growth within Hillsborough Township increases,
the need for recreational opportunities . The Town , as yet , has no
public parks that are officially open to the public although several
park projects are currently in progress .
The Parks and Recreation Board was appointed in 1996 . Since
then the members of the Board have assessed existing property
and facilities owned by the Town and have assigned some
priorities for implementation of the Master Plan . Several projects
are ongoing . Funding has been allocated and / or is being
requested for these projects .
The most immediate recreation needs , based on the original survey
and subsequent requests by townspeople , include ( not necessarily in
_ order of need )
:y
A . Playing fields for organized sports
B . Basketball courts
C . Safe places to walk and bicycle
D,. Playgrounds within safe walking distance of residences
E . Neighborhood parks
F . Skateboard facilities
C . Standards
See Section VII for recommendations on the development of
coordinated standards . See Appendix F for existing standards .
D . Status of Previous Bonds and Projects
Constructed
In previous years; different jurisdictions have issued bonds for
recreation and parks projects . A number of existing facilities used by
County and Town residents were funded through these bonds . The
following is a listing of bonds approved and projects constructed or
8
