County governments, however, have not <br /> uniformly kept pace with demand , as measured by national <br /> indicators . <br /> Chapel Hill , for example, has approximately 400 acres of <br /> public land devoted to parks and recreation . National standards <br /> indicate that Chapel Hill should have XX acres, based on its <br /> current population , and XX acres based on its projected 2025 <br /> population . The town therefore has XX % of what it should _ <br /> have, and limited prospects for accumulating more . <br /> Carrboro has approximately 70 acres of public land ; <br /> Orange County has approximately 60 acres; and Hillsborough <br /> has approximately 30 acres . <br /> The University of North Carolina is planning a major <br /> expansion over the next ten years, and its commitment to <br /> parks and recreation space as a component of that expansion is <br /> not currently known . <br /> The combined projected population of Orange County in <br /> 2025 is 168, 000 .
