January 1997 Skill Development Center Advisory Board was appointed to advise on <br /> building design for center and programming activities . <br /> January- <br /> March 1997 County with assistance of TJCOG applied for a $ 200 , 000 Federal EDA <br /> grant to renovate the Skill Development Center Building . The pre - <br /> application was not approved by the EDA . <br /> April 1997 County staff, RCS staff and collaborative agencies began meeting monthly <br /> to give input on design of building , coordinate program, develop <br /> policies/procedures for marketing , common intake , confidentially <br /> requirement, computer networking , skill management center, child care , <br /> transportation non-traditional hours , client flow in the building , etc . <br /> Charette was held to receive comments from the community , neighboring <br /> businesses , civic leaders , service providers , town and County officials . <br /> Summer 1997 Design of building was finalized . <br /> October 1997 Workforce Development Board submitted JobLink grant for $ 202 , 000 . <br /> Grant was awarded in January 1998 . <br /> February 1998 Commissioners approved bid for renovation of Skill <br /> Development/JobLink building at a cost of $ 806 , 562 with $ 780 , 000 <br /> funded through private placement and the remainder from County <br /> funds . <br />
