care� <br /> Randolph County JobLink Career Center quarterly report <br /> Sept . 10, 2000 <br /> The Randolph County JobLink Career Center experienced a challenging and busy summer quarter , as <br /> several key staffers were hired and a large number of new enrollments were added to the Workforce <br /> Investment Act training rolls . <br /> Monette Loflin was hired in September as JobLink ' s director . Loflin, an employee of Regional <br /> Consolidated Services , has gained substantial experience operating government- funded programs . She was <br /> previously the child development coordinator of RCS ' Head Start program in Randolph, Alamance and <br /> Caswell counties , where she managed 70 -plus employees . <br /> Barbara Mroczkowski retired in July as JobLink ' s director . Under her tenure , the JobLink was located at <br /> Randolph Community College and a second, smaller JobLink facility was established at a public housing <br /> facility on Farr Street in Asheboro . <br /> Nancy Landis was promoted to Employment Specialist II to assume additional Workforce Investment Act <br /> duties with the current case management staff. An additional employment specialist will be hired to take <br /> over her case - load, and interviews have been conducted for that position . <br /> Robin Coates was hired by Randolph Conuuunity College as Human Resource Development coordinator . <br /> She replaces Warren Forney , who accepted employment at Georgia Tech in July . Robin has created a two . <br /> week class for the unemployed , geared toward providing answers to questions about their career goals . <br /> Angie Andrews was hired as customer service intake specialist, replacing Peggy Cox . Peggy graduated <br /> from Randolph Community College ' s Information Systems program in May . <br /> A plant closure at Jockey International in July brought 40 dislocated workers into the Randolph County <br /> JobLink Center ' s worker training program . Most have enrolled in a six -month clerical training program <br /> offered by Randolph Community College ; others are enrolled in a Medical Office Assistant program at <br /> RCC and a few have enrolled in associate degree programs . JobLink staff has assisted these former <br /> employees with transition to the classroom, course scheduling and coordination of unemployment <br /> compensation . About 10 employees from Shaw Furniture and the John Plant Company are enrolling in <br /> training through the Randolph County JobLink following business and plant closures at those locations <br /> over the summer . <br /> Over 40 WIA students were transferred from the Employment Security Commission to the Randolph <br /> County JobLink ' s rolls in August. Many of these were displaced from Black and Decker about 18 months <br /> ago and are nearing completion of their training . <br /> During the Month of August, the Randolph County JobLink ' s RCC location served 257 clients . The Farr <br /> Street affiliate site served 109 clients . Both sites served clients with services such as WIA case <br /> management, welfare to work case management, job searches , resume assistance , career interest testing and <br /> labor market information .
