Orange County NC Website
2
The first four months of work focused on developing the Town of Hillsborough ' s
regulations which will be similar to Orange County ' s since their moratorium had a
shorter time period and included a smaller area . The focus is now the county ' s area of
over 800 acres and developing land use and transportation patterns and regulations to
complement Hillsborough ' s work . An examination of potential build out conditions to
ensure adequate road networks is paramount in the subregional area .
A portion of the original moratorium area is being released since that specific area was
examined in the accelerated mode because of its proximity to Hillsborough ' s moratoria
area that is now released along NC 86 , 1 . 85 and Old NC 10 ( also known as Areas 3a
and 3b ) .
The overall goal of this proposal is to enable both the Town of Hillsborough and Orange
County the ability to implement new EDD standards in the designated areas in order to
create a better development pattern and aesthetic image for the entranceway to
Hillsborough and Orange County ' s prime economic development area .
If you have any questions or comments , or would like to participate in the public hearing
( see enclosed notice ) , please feel free to contact me and /or other participating staff
members of our subcommittee at ( 919 ) 245 -2585 .
Sincerely ,
Craig N .
