2 <br />If awarded, the proposed contract would come into effect on October 1, 2005, Services through <br />September 30, 2005 will be managed under the current contract, Upon the implementation of the <br />new contract, the monthly per-household cost will decrease by over 25%, or from $3,98 per <br />household per month to $2,97 per household per month, Far Fiscal Year 2005-06, the frequency of <br />service for the various incorporated jurisdictions is proposed to remain the same,' By the end of fiscal <br />year 2005-2006, staff project that the Urban Curbside program will service 17,980 residences weekly.. <br />In general, the Urban Curbside program adds new homes built within or annexed into one of the <br />municipalities automatically as these residences are constructed or annexed, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total projected cast for the Urban Curbside Recycling Program contract for <br />FY 2005/06 is $683,000. The portion of this cost allocated to the new contract that would came into <br />effect on October 1, 2005, if approved by the Board, is $475,000. These funds are included in the <br />Manager's Recommended FY 2005-06 operating budget in the Solid Waste/Landfill Operations <br />enterprise fund, <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board: <br />1, Award RFP number 5112 to Waste Industries, LLC, which award is subject to final approval of <br />the contract between Orange County and Waste Industries, LLC; and <br />2, Approve a contract between Orange County and Waste Industries, LLC, which contract is <br />subject to final review by staff and the County Attorney and pursuant to the terms of the RFP; <br />and <br />3. Authorize the Chair to sign the contract on behalf of the Board. <br />
