The homes are made more <br /> affordable because the Community Land Trust in Orange County holds title to the <br /> property and provides a low- cost , long -term lease to homebuyers . <br /> HOU1 - 1f) Continue to support the development of a land trust to maintain affordability <br /> and encourage making public land available to non - profit organizations . <br /> County Response <br /> • The Community Land Trust in Orange County was created in 1999 and completed its <br /> first development with Orange Community Housing Corporation in the summer of <br /> 2001 . The project is known as the Legion Road Townhomes in Chapel Hill . <br /> • The Community Land Trust in Orange County merged with the Orange Community <br /> Housing Corporation to form Orange Community Housing and Land Trust in July <br /> 2001 . This move will provide the opportunity for more efficient operations for both <br /> organizations . <br />
