Fikes , Director <br /> Subject : Shaping Orange County ' s Future Status Report <br /> Following are my responses to the recommendations contained in the Shaping Orange <br /> County ' s Future Report as we discussed in July . <br /> Goal 1 : 1 - 1 a <br /> Increase opportunities for residents from different geographic areas of the County and <br /> different backgrounds to work together . <br /> County Response <br /> • This recommendation is incorporated as protocol for the development of task forces <br /> and advisory boards in order to ensure complete representation of Orange County <br /> citizens . <br /> Goal 1 : 1 - 1 c <br /> Promote neighborhood design that encourages community interaction . <br /> County Response <br /> • Local non - profit developers of are encouraged to create " communities it when <br /> designing affordable housing developments . <br /> Goal 5 : 5 - 1 a , b , d <br /> - Create a set of sustainability indicators using the SOCF Sustainability <br /> Committee indicators as a starting point , <br /> Create a permanent County database for these key indicators . <br /> EMEN Track progress toward sustainability with annual reports to the <br /> community . <br /> County Response <br /> • This department has not been involved in any discussion of sustainability indicators . <br />
