The Orange <br />County Zoning Ordinance classifies bed and breakfast uses as 854 Historic Sites Non-Residential-Mixed <br />Use for all of our main residential zoning districts-Rural Buffer (RB), Agricultural Residential (AR), <br />and Rural Residential (R1). One of the County's requirements for this use is that the structure is <br />recognized by the state as a historic site. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places <br />on August 8, 1998, as the Dr. Arch Jordan House_ <br />The Zoning Ordinance also requires the applicant to complete an Environmental Assessment for the <br />project to ensure that permit will not compromise the historic character of the property. The applicant, <br />Ms. Elizabeth P. Davidson, has been in contact with the Restoration Branch of Archives and History <br />during the planning stages of this project. Ms. Davidson will be required to plant some trees along the <br />property boundaries to meet our screening requirements. However, with the exception of a small gravel <br />parking area, no additional work to the house and property is anticipated, as part of this project. <br />I have attached a copy of the application, Environmental Assessment, and sixteen copies of the site plan. <br />Please distribute this to various state agencies as appropriate.
