MINUTES - Draft <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />November 20, 2019 <br />S:\Managers Working Files\BOH\Agenda & Abstracts\2019 Agenda & Abstracts/ November Page 4 <br />Motion to elect Jennifer Deyo to Vice-Chair for the 2020 calendar year was made by Liska <br />Lackey, seconded by Timothy Smith, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br /> <br />VII. Reports and Discussion with Possible Action <br /> <br />A. BOCC Annual Report and Work Plan <br /> <br />The BOCC will review the Annual Work Plan report during a work session in the spring of 2020. <br />Ms. Stewart mentioned that each advisory board and commission is given three minutes to <br />present highlights to the BOCC and requested input from the Board on which topics to highlight. <br />Some of the topics suggested included: equity work, Community Health Assessment & <br />priorities, fluoridation review (if completed), Environmental Health’s tremendous effort with the <br />implementation of Energov, and Family Success Alliance. Ms. Stewart gave acknowledgments <br />to Beverly Scurry and the OCHD Leadership Team for their input. <br /> <br />B. Health Director Report <br /> <br />Prior to giving her report, Ms. Stewart informed the Board regarding the Customer Service <br />Survey that was presented at last month’s Board meeting. She stated that according to Dr. <br />Michael Day, there is a four month wait time for appointments and that the wait time is extended <br />for restorative type appointments. Also, it was determined that our Language Services Team <br />had not been notified of the Dental Clinic’s increased need for translation services. Lastly, Ms. <br />Stewart gave a follow up on the Dental Clinic’s front desk staff. They will be receiving additional <br />training and will began notifying the patients of the fees upfront. <br /> <br />In addition to the report, highlights given by Ms. Stewart are below. <br /> <br />• Ms. Stewart and Renee Kemske, Nutrition Program Manager, attended the Diabetes <br />Advisory Council meeting in Raleigh and picked up the 2019 John Bowdish Community <br />Award. <br />• Cardinal Innovations Advisory Council is looking for members, Orange County resident <br />stakeholders. Ms. Stewart encourage the Board members to apply. They will meet 8 <br />times a year and have extended their deadline to apply to January. The draft <br />PowerPoint was sent to the Board members. <br />• The NC DHHS has suspended implementation of Medicaid Transformation until further <br />notice. <br />• Ms. Stewart spoke with the NC Care 360 Engagement Specialist. There will be an intro <br />and demo in Hillsborough on Tuesday, December 3rd from 10am-11:30am at the Whitted <br />Building, Room 230. She also stated that she’s still trying to have them attend a BOH <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />At 8:20pm, Liska Lackey motioned to move into closed session and Sam Lasris <br />seconded. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII. Closed Session to Discuss Health Director’s Annual Review <br /> <br />During the closed session, the Board of Health discussed the Quintana Stewart’s annual <br />review.
