It was noted by planning staff that despite the dissolution of the
subcommittee, bicycle safety was still an important component of the OUTBoard’s portfolio, and
significant gains had been made over the past few months with regard to deliverables.
Early in November, planning staff met with the OUTBoard Chair to gather context and
information about the successes of bike safety implementation as well as to figure out what work
had started that was in need of completion. During a recent inventory, planning staff discovered
bike maps and informational brochures as well as some bicycle promotional items in storage
(table below). From the meeting, it was decided that planning staff would need to reach out to
the County’s Community Relations Director to understand how to distribute the Public Service
Announcements (PSAs).
Item Approximate Quantity
Brochures 800
Helmets 58
Stickers 100
Plastic Pins 100
‘Bike Rodeo’ Pins 150
Pens 350
Planning staff also met with the Orange County Public Transportation (OCPT) Transportation
Services Manager to provide some promotional material and literature for the “Lighten Up” event
hosted by OCPT.
