Orange County Adult Home Care Community Advisory Committee <br />Meeting held 4:00 pm on September 3, 2019 at Seymour Center <br /> <br />In Attendance: Alison Brown, Autumn Cox, Karen Green-McElveen, Annie Deaver, Shade Little, <br />Mary Lou Gelblum, Bill Morgan, Olivia Fisher <br /> <br />Absent: Michael Zuber, Tiketha Collins <br /> <br />Triangle J Council of Governments Report: <br />Triangel J annual leadership training will be held on Wednesday October 23rd. Committees throughout <br />region will be in attendance. Email Autumn if interested. No cost. CEUs. <br />Autumn will send out flyers from Friends of Residents in Long Term Care with Fall event if interested in <br />attending. Autumn encourages members to look into getting on email list. <br /> <br />Department of Aging Report: <br />Lisa Burley, transportation specialist had last day. Allison Smith replaced her for the Transitions <br />program. <br />Larger announcement they are targeting older adults of color to join the Aging Board in effort to be <br />more diverse. Meetings are held at Seymour and Passmore. 55-60+ People are required to attend <br />meetings monthly and advise on Master Aging Plan. Residents of OC. Two seats are open. Two year <br />commitment. <br />Project Engage classes are starting. Senior leaders attend 13 week training on community involvement, <br />in and outs of local stakeholders, learn about available programs. They will then lead one of thirteen <br />senior leadership teams. 13 new members will embed themselves in Senior Resource Teams. Goal to <br />keep ears to the ground to build teams based on need and interests in the community. Teams focused <br />in LTC, LGBTQ, community advocacy. Department of Aging guides on an administrative level. If people <br />are interested, Annie will bring information on next session. Sometime in the first quarter. Exact date <br />not determined. <br /> <br />Facility Reports: <br />Autumn handed out pamphlets on Resident Rights with Ombudsmen contact info. <br /> <br />Crescent Green- Discussion of food choices? Lack of security. Staff are not required to have any of the <br />doors in the building locked as visitors are welcome. <br />Follow up questions-open doors. Lack of meal preference/options. No comment on personal care <br />provided. Emailing Michael for clarification. Received, pending approval. <br /> <br />Brookdale: Correct line 9 and 10 to “no”, it was reported that no concerns on visit. Note that there is no <br />power generators. Brookdale tends to lose power first in the county. Local administrators are pushing <br />corporate for a generator. Last snow storm, power was lost at 5pm, had to physically carry people up to <br />their rooms. No power for 5-6 days. <br /> <br />The Stratford: No time restriction on piano, and a resident plays the same song throughout the day on <br />the piano next to a resident room. He has talked with staff and that has not been resolved. <br />Wait for coffee in the morning. Administration looking into. Exited with Medina Bell (resident care <br />coordinator). Another resident reported wanting lunch earlier/people running out of food on the menu <br />and making food sandwiches. All visitors had a sense that the building should be checked more <br />thoroughly for mold. Per Autumn, the county and state have been in more frequently on account of a
