ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD November 13, 2019 Orange County Economic Development Office 131 W. Margaret Lane Hillsborough, NC 27278 Minutes Members Present: Sharon Hill, Barbara Jessie-Black, John Morris, Paige Zinn, Kristen Young, James Watts, John Anderson Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley, Amanda Garner, Mike Ortosky, Lindsey Hirni, Anja De Waal Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Paige Zinn at 11:55 a.m. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Paige Zinn and seconded by John Morris to approve the minutes from the September 18, 2019 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. New Business Economic Development 101 Steve Brantley presented to the committee the history and current uses of Article 46. He shared the sales tax increase in 2011 and talked about how the proceeds are split between Education and Economic Development. Steve spoke about the budgeted allocations for Economic Development projects in Orange County from 2012-2013 through 2019-2020. There was discussion on how the Orange County Board of Commissioners approves the proposed uses of the funds. The Advisory Board is planning to continue to discuss and evaluate the funds and budget for Article 46 moving forward. Annual Advisory Board Report and Work Plan Steve presented to the committee the Annual Advisory Board Report and work plan from 2018 and requested that the members complete the new Annual Advisory Board Report and Work Plan to send to the county commissioners in early December. Board Orientation Steve and Amanda discussed our board orientation booklets that we are putting together for our next meeting in January. Proposed Meeting Schedule for 2020 The committee accepted the 2020 calendar.
