MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />December 21 , 2019 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON SATURDAY: December 21, 2019 at the <br />Hillsborough Commons, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Garavaglia, Susie Enoch, and Jamezetta <br />Bedford. <br /> <br />GUEST: None. <br /> <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: Tamara Dempsey-Tanner and Ann Wilkerson. <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Sharron Hinton, Human Services Manager; Lindsey Shewmaker, <br />Human Services Manager ; and Crystal Mitchell, Human Services Manager. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order and Introductions <br /> <br />DSS Board Member, Pat Garavaglia, called the meeting to order at 12:07 pm. <br /> <br />II. Board Comments <br /> <br />Pat Garavaglia commented that she is so proud to be part of the DSS Board and this annual holiday <br />program. Jamezetta Bedford commented that she was reappointed to serve on the DSS Board for <br />2020. <br /> <br />III. Public Comments <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />IV. Agenda Changes <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />V. Action Items <br /> <br />On a motion by Jamezetta Bedford, the Board approved the minutes of November 2019. Susie Enoch <br />Bedford seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br /> <br />VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision <br /> <br />1. Building Update <br /> <br />Nancy Coston informed the Board that work on a new roof is slated to start at the end of this month <br />at Hillsborough Commons. The storage area in the back needs to be cleared out prior to that and <br />staff have been working diligently to make that happen while also preparing for the Toy Chest. <br /> <br />Skills Development Center will be closed down at the beginning of the year due to a combination of <br />environmental concerns and sale of the property. There is significant work to do in relocating staff <br />and partners stationed at the facility. Staff are reviewing options and potential sites for interim <br />locations. <br />
