Throughout North Carolina, cl i mate, <br /> economics, construction schedule delays and accelerations, and other factors <br /> present difficult challenges in specifying the different vegetation needed for <br /> site stabi I i zati on. To help resolve this issue, vegetative stabi I i zati on requires <br /> consi derati on i n three categori es: <br /> ■ Immediate Stabilization—nurse crop varieties(Note: temporary mulching <br /> may be uti I i zed for i mmedi ate stabi I i zati on if outlined on the approved <br /> plans and construction sequence. <br /> ■ Primary Stabilization—plant varieties providing cover up to 3 years with <br /> a specified maintenance program <br /> ■ Long Term Stabilization—plant varieties providing protective cover with <br /> mai ntenance I evel s sel ected by the owner <br /> An adequate j ob i n one of these areas does not guarantee success i n the I ater <br /> phases.
