4 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on November 9, 2019, the Chapel Hill High School Women’s Volleyball Team <br />captured the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s (NCHSSA) 3A <br />State Championship; and <br />WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Ross Fields, the Chapel Hill High School Women’s <br />Volleyball Team earned its third NCHSAA title; and <br />WHEREAS, the Tigers completed the season with a 28-1 record; and <br />WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Tigers brought <br />honor upon themselves, Chapel Hill High School, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City <br />Schools District and Orange County; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />expresses its sincere appreciation and respect to the Chapel Hill High School Women’s <br />Volleyball Team and Coach Ross Fields for the team’s outstanding achievement, and their <br />inspiration to youth across North Carolina through their dedication, teamwork, and athletic <br />prowess. <br /> <br />This the 10th day of December 2019. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Greene, seconded by Commissioner Bedford for <br />the Board to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the attached proclamation recognizing the <br />Chapel Hill High School Women’s Volleyball Team for winning the 2019 State 3A Championship <br />and honoring the players and Coach Ross Fields for representing the community with the <br />highest ideals of sportsmanship and integrity. <br /> <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br />b. Proclamation Recognizing the Carrboro High School Women’s Cross Country <br />Team for Winning the 2019 State 2A Championship <br />The Board considered voting to approve a Proclamation recognizing the Carrboro High <br />School Women’s Cross Country Team for winning the 2019 State 2A Championship and <br />authorize the Chair to sign. <br />Todd McGee introduced Coach Mimi O’Grady, who in turn introduced some members of <br />her team. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Carrboro High School Women’s Cross Country Team won the State 2A <br />title with its victory at the state championship meet on November 9, 2019. <br /> <br />Commissioner Greene read the proclamation: <br /> <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br />CARRBORO HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM <br />WINNING THE 2019 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on November 9, 2019, the Carrboro High School Women’s Cross Country Team <br />won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 2A State <br />Championship; and <br />WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Mimi O’Grady, the team won its seventh state <br />championship and second in a row; and
