Chris Sousa showed me a large crack in a structural member(pictures below)between the
two floors today that has gotten worse over the last few weeks.
I called Summit and sent pictures to the structural engineer. Chris Berg (Structural Engineer) thought it looked
important enough to come on site right then. When he arrived we did not find any major building shifts in the
building structure, however as a temporary measure he recommended we install temporary shoring on both
sides of the crack.
I will be working to get a contract in place for investigations with Summit to determine the extent of the
damage and hopefully find out why it has cracked. Once we investigate and find out a solution we will be able
to bid the permanent repairs.
I anticipate the cost for the temporary shoring to be less than $2500. This allows a small amount for rental of the
shoring equipment.
Thank you,
Angel
Angel Barnes I Capital Projects Manager I Orange County Asset Management Services 1.131 West Margaret
Lane I Hillsborough, NC 27278 I(919) 245.2628 (direct) I(919)
610.8182 (mobile) Iwww.oran eg countync.gov
Begin forwarded message:
1
