No. 1 <br />SUBJECT: Discussion of Recommended New Staff Resources <br />DEPARTMENT: County Manager/Budget PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) Na <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: - <br />2001-02 Position Report John Link ar Rad Visser, ext 2300 <br />(under separate cover) Donna Dean, ext 2151 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To review and discuss a report from the County Manager concerning his likely <br />recommendations regarding funding to be included in the FY 2001-02 operating budget for new <br />positions and changes to existing positions. <br />BACKGROUND: As has been the case during the past two annual budget preparation cycles, <br />time has been set aside during April and/ar May budget work sessions for the Manager to report <br />to the Board on his tentative recommendations regarding requests received from various <br />departments to create new positions or to change existing staff positions. The Manager will <br />briefly present his recommendations regarding those positions, funding for which he is <br />considering at this time for inclusion in his recommended budget for FY 2001-02. Department <br />heads and staff from departments concerned will attend the budget work session and be <br />prepared to respond to any Board questions or comments about specific position requests. The <br />Board's feedback will be helpful in shaping the final Manager's Recommended Budget for FY <br />2001-02, which is slated for formal presentation to the Board on May 24, 2001. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact of each position request is noted on the pertinent <br />pages in the 2001-02 Position Report. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board review and discuss the <br />tentative recommendations, and provide appropriate direction to the Manager and staff. <br />
