Orange County Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />Meeting Minutes – July 16, 2015 <br /> <br />Meeting Convened <br />Meeting called to order at 3:32 pm at the Central Orange Senior Center in Hillsborough, NC <br />by Chair, Max Mason <br /> <br />Attendees <br />Max Mason, Chair <br />Jack Vogt, Vice Chair <br />Deborah Stewart, Secretary <br />Mario Battigelli, Member <br />Beverly Foster, Member <br />Suzanne Haff, Member <br />Yvonne Mendenhall, Member <br />Joyce Teston, Member <br />Mary Fraser, Department on Aging Liaison <br />Charlotte Terwilliger, Ombudsman <br />The following committee members provided advance notice to Max Mason, Chair, that they <br />would miss the meeting; therefore their absences are considered excused: James Bartow, Dan <br />Hatley, and Debbie Rider. <br />Talita Crews has resigned her position on the board. <br /> <br />Minutes May, 2015 <br />Minutes approved. <br /> <br />Report from the Ombudsman, Charlotte Terwilliger <br />• Noted that Quarterly Activity Forms can be accepted via email. <br />• Suggested that Lisa Levine’s dementia training on October 21st at Triangle J from 1:00 <br />pm - 3:30 pm may benefit us as we engage residents with dementia during our visits. <br />Charlotte will send out reminders. <br />• Reminder to complete CAC survey. <br />• There will be a meeting of those that staff Advisory Committees to review policies of <br />advisory boards. Those materials will be reviewed by Max and Jack. When there is a <br />vacancy, filling it is important and attendance to meetings is important. Clarification that <br />when a member is appointed, that member is appointed to a position and it depends on <br />how many year are on that position that dictates how many years one can serve. Charlotte <br />will send email to us for review. <br />• Donna Baker indicated that she would support business cards with County Seal for <br />committee members. This committee recommends 50-100 per member. <br />• Nursing Home CAC is thinking about reading book “Being Mortal” by Atul Gawande <br />and having a discussion. Is this something we would consider as individuals or as a <br />committee? <br /> <br />Report from the Department on Aging, Mary Fraser <br />• Long-term Care Living Collaborative has been working on a quality service awards <br />program around activities and exercise. This year’s focus will be on Music & Memory. <br />Application process ends August 1st. Assisted Living facilities, Skilled Nursing facilities,
