Orange County Adult Care Home Community Advisory <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 15, 2015 <br /> <br />Meeting Convened <br />Meeting called to order at 3:30 PM at the Central Orange Senior Center in <br />Hillsborough NC by Vice-Chair, Jack Vogt <br />Attendance <br /> Members: <br />Jack Vogt- Vice -Chair <br />Mario Battegelli - Member <br />James Bartow - Member <br />Suzanne Haff – Member <br />Beverly Foster – Members <br />Yvonne Mendenhall – Member <br />Deborah Stewart - Member <br /> Charlotte Terwilliger - Ombudsman <br />Mary Fraser – Department on Aging liaison <br /> <br />Minutes November 20, 2014 <br /> Minutes of the November meeting were approved as corrected. <br /> <br /> <br />Report from the Ombudsman – Charlotte Terwilliger <br /> <br />• Charlotte reported that the administrator position at Carolina House has turned over. <br />Currently it is unfilled. <br />• There is also turn-over in administration at The Stratford. <br />• Carillon AL passed its most recent survey without any deficiencies but is <br />experiencing low census on the assisted living side. <br />• The census at Crescent Green is also low at present. <br />• Charlotte reminded us that committee members are required to get the resident’s <br />consent before reporting abuse by a facility to DSS unless it was observed directly by <br />the volunteer. Under these circumstances, the committee member is encouraged to <br />discuss the complaint with the Ombudsman before reporting any further. <br />• Charlotte provided information about Resident Right #4 – to be free of mental and <br />physical abuse, neglect and exploitation and handed out an article on elder <br />maltreatment. Committee members requested further training in elder abuse in long- <br />term care.
