Carolyn Connor, Jean Anderson <br /> AGENDA ITEM # 1 : CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Allison called the meeting to order at approximately 7000 p .m . <br /> Moon asked if the HPC would like to cancel the July meeting and reported that a new candidate for <br /> membership was being considered by the BOCC . The HPC decided to hold the July meeting . Moon <br /> reported that the HPC must elect a chair by August to serve the second half of the one-year term . The <br /> HPC meeting Rules of Procedure specify that a new chair should be elected each February . <br /> AGENDA ITEM #2 : CONSIDERATIONS OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br /> Allison suggested that the HPC members finalize a recommendation and vote at the next meeting for a <br /> Chair . <br /> At the previous meeting, Aldridge asked why the county Preservation Ordinance requires the state <br /> historic preservation office ( SHPO) to review local landmark applications . Moon referenced GS 160A- <br /> 400 . 6 Required landmark designation procedures, included as an informational item in the agenda packet. <br /> Parts 2 and 3 of that section outline the Division of Archives and History ' s role in the designation <br /> process . <br /> Moon reported her conversation with Ellen Turco, one of the preservation planners at Wake County <br /> regarding the HPC ' s use of the Wake County Design Guidelines . Ms . Turco said that the Wake County <br /> Historic Preservation Commission would consider Orange County ' s use of their guidelines (as a template) <br /> at their July meeting . Moon suggested that the HPC create a task force to work on the guidelines . At this <br /> point, however, the HPC indicated that it preferred to work on the guidelines as a body not as a <br /> subcommittee . <br /> AGENDA ITEM #3 : APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> a.
