In conclusion
the HPC noted that the identification of historic sites has been met and, the protection of historic
properties should be the role of the ordinance enforcement and permit approval process .
c . Orange County Historical Architecture Manuscript
Inventory Selection - - Part I
The HPC passed around photographs of the inventoried sites (Cheeks Township) and selected individual
sites for inclusion in the publication . The commission discussed modifying some of the prepared
narratives to only in building history, and limiting the length to about two paragraphs . Inclusion of
additional National Register sites such as the Maude Faucette House was noted . The idea of not including
sites of destroyed sites and cemeteries was also discussed . Site selection will continue at the next meeting
for other townships .
d . Scenic/Heritage Corridor
Moon suggested working on a " corridor plan" as another preservation tool to offer local residents . Moon
mentioned that none of the existing preservation tools : zoning, National Register and local landmark
designation, etc . , appeared to be a good fit for the St . Mary ' s community . It is likely that other rural
neighborhoods could also benefit from some sort of scenic or heritage corridor plan .
AGENDA ITEM #70 INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
a .
