Hunt Jr. , Governor Betty Ray McCain, Secretary <br /> August 31 , 1999 <br /> Dear Friend of the Arts and Humanities , <br /> The North Carolina General Assembly established an $ 8 , 000 , 000 grant fund for 1999 -2000 , The legislation states <br /> that "grants shall not exceed $ 100 , 000 per project. " The criteria is as follows , <br /> 1 . The organization must be either a local governmental entity or a 501 (c) (3 ) non-profit cultural , <br /> historical , or artistic organization identified as such by the IRS <br /> 2 . The project must be for cultural, historical, or artistic projects, including visiting artist programs , or <br /> for museums <br /> If your organization has a project matching this description, and if your organization has received its 501 (c) (3) <br /> non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service or is a local governmental entity, you may apply for a grant <br /> by .'sending us the attached one-page submission form . <br /> Your submission must be postmarked or received no later than October 21 , 1999 . Submissions via fax will not be <br /> accepted . The submission should be sent to : Donna Rosefield, Office of the Secretary, Department of Cultural <br /> Resources , 4601 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 276994601 . <br /> It is important for you to contact your local legislators , as they will be crucial in the final decision-making process , <br /> The last time we had an $ 8 million grant fund, we received requests from over 810 projects requesting a total of <br /> more than $ 86 million. <br /> After the submissions have been reviewed, IF it is determined that your organization will receive money from <br /> this $8 million grant fund, you will be required to submit the following prior to receiving any money : <br /> 1 . A copy of your organization ' s 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt letter from the Internal Revenue Service <br /> 2 . A copy of your organization ' s notarized Conflict of Interest Policy (on your organization ' s <br /> letterhead) <br /> 3 . A copy of your organization ' s Articles of Incorporation <br /> 4 . A copy of your organization ' s By-Laws <br /> 5 . A list of your organization ' s Board of Directors/Trustees <br /> If you have any questions , you may call my office at 919- 7334867 .
