Marys Road Architectural Survey and Survey Update <br /> Orange County, North Carolina <br /> (GAI Project No . 99 - 125 - 10) <br /> 1 . Research on historic resources in the St . Marys Road study area was <br /> conducted at archives in both North Carolina and Washington , D . C . Historic maps <br /> of the project area were examined at the Hillsborough Public Library and Library <br /> of Congress . Census research on selected surveyed properties was conducted at <br /> the Library of Congress and National Archives . <br /> 2 . Photographs from the fieldwork phase of the project have been <br /> developed and labeled per NCSHPO standards . Architectural survey forms for <br /> resources surveyed in 1992 have been updated . Architectural survey forms for <br /> newly surveyed resources are nearly complete and will be ready for client review <br /> in the next few weeks . <br /> 3 . The Orange County historic context report prepared by Mattson /Alexander <br /> was reviewed for information relevant to this project . The context is being used <br /> to justify the historic significance of the proposed rural historic district . <br /> 4 . Based on a drive -through of the project area conducted by NCSHPO <br /> National Register coordinator Claudia Brown , the NCSHPO came up with roughly <br /> drawn boundaries for this proposed historic district . These have been revised and <br /> expanded as a result of the architectural survey . These new boundaries will be <br /> presented to the HPC for their comment . and approval at the next meeting July <br /> 14 , 1999 . <br /> Submitted June 30 , 1999 <br />
