<br /> STUDY OF NORTH CAROLINA AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR AND WAR OF 181 -2 SITES
<br /> In January 1998 a staff committee of the Division of Archives and History (DAH) , North
<br /> Carolina Department of Cultural Resources (DCR) completed an American Revolutionary War
<br /> and War of 1812 database listing for North Carolina . Members of the committee were David
<br /> Brook , deputy state historic preservation officer , chair , Stephen R . Claggett , state
<br /> archaeologist , HPO , Michael Hill , research historian , Research Branch, DAH ; Richard
<br /> Knapp , research curator , Historic Sites Section ; and Michael Southern , research historian ,
<br /> HPO .
<br /> The North Carolina battlefield listing was part of a national inventory coordinated by the
<br /> National Park Service ' s American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) , acting under a 1996
<br /> congressional directive . The North Carolina committee compiled the names , descriptions , and
<br /> locations of fifty -three Revolutionary War sites andry _,
<br /> three War of 1812 sites and furnished the listing to
