10 <br /> MINUTES <br /> HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> APRIL 28 , 1999 <br /> Members Present : Tom Allison, Chair <br /> Jean Anderson <br /> Bob Rich <br /> Patricia Samford <br /> Members Absent : Rachel Gaya <br /> Brenda Vanhook <br /> Staff Present : Don Belk, Preservation Planner <br /> Carol Crawford, Administrative Assistant <br /> AGENDA ITEM # 1 : CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Allison called the meeting to order at approximately 7 . 05 p .m . <br /> AGENDA ITEM #2 : CONSIDERATIONS OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br /> None , <br /> AGENDA ITEM #3 : APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> a. March 24 , 1999 <br /> MOTION : Anderson moved to approve the minutes for March 24, 1999 . Seconded by Samford . <br /> VOTE : Unanimous , <br /> AGENDA ITEM #4 : CHAIR COMMENTS <br /> Samford reported this was her last meeting as she had taken position in New Bern, setting up an <br /> Archeology program at Tryon Palace . <br /> Allison noted that Vanhook has resigned from the Commission . <br /> Anderson suggested the Commission recruit some of the previous members . <br /> Stamford indicated it would be appropriate to have an archeologist on the Commission . <br /> Everyone expressed appreciation to Samford for serving on the Commission for the Environment and <br /> indicated the need for the archeologist perspective to be included in the group . There was concern <br /> expressed of the low membership during this time of work progress for the Commission . <br /> Allison suggested members call perspective citizens (that comply with the membership guidelines) to <br /> recruit some new members . <br /> Allison asked if staff had the Ayr Mount report . <br /> Don reported he has a meeting next week with Bill Crowther to put together information to track the <br /> progress and recent history of the site from the time it was placed on the National Register (in 1971 ) up to <br /> the present date . Which will include a narrative about the restoration work . <br />
