Letters from Orange County re : Cabe-Pratt Harris National Register Nomination <br /> Anderson asked about the Cabe -Pratt Harris House nomination. Belk responded that the meeting <br /> was scheduled for January 19th and he assumed that the nomination went through. <br /> b . Letter from David Brook, Deputy SHPO re : 1999 Annual Historic Preservation <br /> Conference, March 26 -27, Hickory <br /> Belk stated that if anyone is interested in attending this conference , there is an application <br /> provided in the packet . <br /> c. Information re : 2nd Annual Statewide Conference of the African-American <br /> Network on Historic Preservation <br /> Belk stated that this is another conference that will satisfy the CLG educational requirements for <br /> the Commission . He noted that this conference will be held March 12th and 13th in Winston- <br /> Salem . <br /> d . Letter from Carole Crumley to Landfill Owners Group <br /> Belk stated that he has not heard from Rod Visser, Assistant County* Manager regarding this <br /> issue . He stated that he may be asked to look into this in more detail and if so he will provide the <br /> Commission with additional information. <br /> Anderson noted that the HPC cannot protect everything . Allison stated that he could not think of <br /> many, several hundred acre tracts in the county that do not have some kind of chimney ruin, <br /> house site , etc . He stated that if every site that had these kinds of things on them are to be <br /> protected, then just about any piece of property would be taken out of consideration for a landfill . <br /> Allison asked Belk to draft a letter from the HPC to send to the Board of Commissioners <br /> regarding the landfill issue . <br /> e.
