d '
ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT f J g
306F REVERE ROAD
HILLSBOROUGH , NORTH CAROLINA 27278
a
IT $
n
• <<b Eoro
January 13 , 1999
Jennifer Martin, National Register Coordinator
Survey and Planning Branch
State Historic Preservation Office
109 East Jones Street
Raleigh, North Carolina 27601 -2807
Re : Cabe-Pratt-Harris House National Register Nomination
Dear Ms . Martin :
Enclosed are letters from the Chairs of the Orange County Board of Commissioners and Historic
Preservation Commission, respectively, finding that the Cabe-Pratt-Harris House meets the criteria
for listing in the National Register of Historic Places .
Also enclosed is a copy of the Public Hearing Notice that was sent via certified mail to the owner of
the Cabe-Pratt-Harris House and to all property owners within 500 feet of the site . The Notice was
published in the News or Orange County on December 30 , 1998 and the Chapel Hill Herald on
December 26 , 1998 and January 2, 1999 . No written comments were received; however, a few
adjoining property owners inquired by telephone . Most questions concerned the impact of the
National Register listing on private property .
We look forward to a favorable finding by . the National Register Advisory Committee on January
141 1999 . Should you have any questions about the enclosures, please contact me .
Sincerely,
Donald R. Belk, AICP
Preservation Planner
/db
enclosures
