The entrance to the lane is approximately 0 . 4 <br /> miles west from the northernmost junction of Dimmocks Mill Road ( SR 1134) and <br /> Moorefields Road . Moorefields is also described as Lot 3 , Cheeks Orange County <br /> Property Map 51 . <br /> Moorefields was built circa 1785 by Alfred Moore , a hero of the American Revolution <br /> and one of North Carolina ' s foremost jurists . In 1798 , Moore became the second North <br /> Carolinian appointed to serve on the US Supreme Court. Moore County, NC is named <br /> for him . The structure , is one of the earliest appearances of the Federal style in North <br /> Carolina, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 25 , 1972 . <br /> BINGIL4M SCHOOL <br /> The Bingham School is located in the Bingham Township at the Oaks Crossroads , <br /> approximately 400 feet northeast of the intersection of NC Highway 54 and Mebane Oaks <br /> Road ( SR 1007) . Bingham School is also described as Lot 19, Bingham Orange County <br /> Property Map 17 . <br /> This property consists of a complex of buildings from several periods, including an L - <br /> shaped house composed of small early 19t' century buildings and the stately mi& 19t' <br /> century Greek Revival house, as well as several outbuildings . The property was the site <br /> of the Bingham School from 1845 until 1864 . Bingham School was one of a series of <br /> North Carolina locations of a school established by William J . Bingham of Hillsborough . <br /> These schools were continued by his sons and grandsons, and gained a statewide <br /> reputation for academic excellence . The Bingham School was listed on the National <br /> Register of Historic Places on January 18 , 1978 . <br /> CIL4 TWOOD <br /> Chatwood is located in the Cheeks Township on the south side of Faucette Mill Road ( SR <br /> 1328 ) , approximately 500 feet west of the junction of SR 1328 and Frank Perry Road ( SR <br /> 1379) .
