Aorange . nc_. us . <br /> AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS ADVISORY BOARD : In recognition of the importance of agriculture to <br /> the economic and cultural life of the county this Board er=urages the voluntary preservation and protection of <br /> farmland from non-fa development. Two Vacanci <br /> rm es — one must be filled by a farmer and the other by a <br /> developer. <br /> ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE : This Committee works to maintain <br /> the intent of the Adult Care Home residents Bill of Rights with the licensed homes. The also promote <br /> community involvement with Adult are Homes. One Vacancy from the community at large_ <br /> ORANGE COUNTY ARTS COM MISSION : This Commission advises the Board of Commissioners on the <br /> arts. They also act as the Local Distributing Agent & advise on the annual allotment of Grass Roots Arts <br /> Program funds . Three Vacancies from the community at-large. <br /> CABLE TV ADVISORY CONEWMEE : This Committee advises the Comaussioners on methods for <br /> responding to complaints regarding the cable TV system. they also advise regarding the franchise and possible <br /> expansions. One Vacancy from the community at-large. <br /> CARRBORO PLANNING BOARD : The Board of Conunissioners appoint 4 citizens to this Board. They <br /> study and make recommcadations to the Board of Aldermen for proposed and actual developments in <br /> Carrboro. They also develop and recommend policies, ordinances, and administrative procedures. One <br /> Vacancy — applicant must reside in the extraterritorial jurisdiction. <br /> CARRBORO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT : The Board of Commissioners appoint 2 citizens to this Board. <br /> They hear and decide appeals from any order , decision, requirement, or interpretation made by the <br /> administrator. They also hear and decide applications . One Vacancy - applicant must reside in the <br /> extraterritorial jurisdiction. <br /> CHAPEL HILL BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT : The Board of Commissioners appoint 3 citizens to this <br /> Board. They hear and decide appeals from any decision or determination by the town Manager, Council, or <br /> Planning Board in grantiag or denying site plan approval, etc. One Vacancy <br /> CHAPEL HILL PLANNING BOARD: The Board of Commissioners appoint 3 citizens to this Board. They <br /> develop a comprehensive plan for the orderly growth and development of Chapel Hill. They review all plans <br /> for buildings, projects and faculties to be located within the Town ' s jurisdiction. They also formulate and <br /> recommend the adoption and amendment of ordinances. One Vacancy — Applicant must be resi ec dent of the <br /> extraterritorial area. <br /> CONMSSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT ,* This Commission advises the Commissioners on matters <br /> affecting the environment with particular emphasis on protection. They educate public and local officials on <br /> environmental issues and perform special studies and projects . They also recommend environmental <br /> initiatives and study changes in environmental science and local and federal regulations . Two Vacancies — <br /> must have expertise environmental issues. <br /> CONMSSION FOR WOMEN: This Commission is the official advisory body on the status of women. <br /> They gather information, conduct research, and advocate for women' s issues.
