This will create momentum in efforts to preserve the African American history and places of
northern Orange County .
Turner would contact Don Belk, Orange County Preservation Planner, to check on National register
eligibility of the site, as well as being added to the County ' s historic landmark priority list . Turner also
suggested looking into applying for a feasibility study grant that would result in a preservation and use plan
of the site . There was discussion of the community ' s willingness to contribute to the restoration of the site,
but that the County and other organizations would need to assist with National Register listing and feasibility
study costs .
