Davidson :
We are pleased to report that the nomination of the above -referenced property to the
National Register of Historic Places has been scheduled for presentation to the North
Carolina National Register Advisory Committee at its meeting on April 91 1998 , in
Raleigh. The Committee will decide whether to authorize me as State Historic
Preservation Officer to sign the nomination and submit it to the U . S . Department of the
Interior, National Park Service, for final review and listing in the National Register,
The National Register is the nation's official list of historic buildings, districts,
archaeological sites, and other resources worthy of preservation. Enclosed is a set of
National Register Fact Sheets which includes a list of the criteria under which properties
are evaluated . More than 1900 North Carolina properties are now listed in the National
Register.
Listing in the National Register does not affect the rights of a private property owner to
dispose of listed property in any manner. The results of National Register listing are
enumerated on the enclosed National Register Fact Sheet 1 .
Owners of private property nominated to the National Register have an opportunity to
concur in or object to listing in accord with the National Historic Preservation Act and 36
CFR 60 . The procedure for objecting to the listing of your property is indicated National
Register Fact Sheet S. If you choose to object to the listing of your property, the objection
must be submitted to me at 109 East Jones Street. We would appreciate receiving your
comments by April 9 , 1998 , but statements of objection may be submitted and will be
counted up until the actual date of listing, which usually takes place at least 15 days but
109 East Jones Street • Raleigh, North Carolina 27601 -2807 33
