7 <br /> <br />their loved ones and making decisions that lead to the best care outcomes, whether it be for an <br />older adult with Alzheimer’s or related dementia or living with a chronic condition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, National Family Caregivers Month – celebrated each November – is a time to <br />recognize and honor family caregivers across the country, and celebrating Family Caregivers <br />during National Family Caregivers Month enables all of us to: <br />• Raise awareness of family caregiver issues; <br />• Celebrate the efforts of family caregivers; <br />• Educate family caregivers about supportive resources; and <br />• Increase support for family caregivers; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br />November 2019 as Family Caregivers Month in Orange County, recognize a Caregiver Day of <br />Care on November 9, 2019, and urge Orange County residents to take time this month to <br />recognize family caregivers as the unsung heroes of our families and community. <br /> <br />This, the 7th day of November, 2019. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Bedford, seconded by Commissioner Greene <br />for the Board to approve a proclamation designating November 2019 as Family Caregivers <br />Month and November 9, 2019 as Orange County’s Caregiver Day of Care, and authorized the <br />Chair to sign it. <br /> <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br />5. NC 54 West Corridor Study – Phase 2 <br />The Board received a presentation on the NC 54 West Corridor Study from VHB and <br />had the opportunity to provide comments and consider endorsing the Technical Committee <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The NC 54 corridor study was started in September 2017 by the Durham- <br />Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) and North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The study area is from Old Fayetteville Road in <br />Carrboro west to the I-85/I-40 interchange in Graham. It includes Burlington-Graham <br />Metropolitan Planning Organization (BG MPO) and Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization <br />(TARPO). VHB is the consultant assigned to the study and they completed the final report in <br />November 2018, with every member jurisdiction participating in the consultant’s and MPO’s <br />public process. A copy of the full report is available online at www.nc54west.com/Report. The <br />final recommendations serve to identify projects for consideration in the future Strategic <br />Prioritization of Transportation (SPOT) processes. <br /> <br />The NC-54 west corridor covers multiple local jurisdictions and regional transportation planning <br />agencies.
