19 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Katie Murray said the Arts Commission is in the process of setting up a nonprofit <br />501(c)(3) to consider a future capital campaign to accommodate growth ideas. <br /> <br /> <br />Fred Joyner, Arts Commission Board Chair, thanked the BOCC for listening to this idea. <br />He said he has been a beneficiary of art spaces in the past, and was an implementer and <br />advocate for this type of work in D.C., which changed his practice as an artist. He said he has <br />also expanded these efforts to international work. He said he has been able to witness how <br />these projects benefit the community, and learned what needs to be done to make it happen. <br />He said communities need to build resilience, and this type of project does just that. He said <br />these types of spaces have helped him to become the artist he is today, and have helped him <br />grow. <br />Frank Gaylor, Hedgehog Holdings owner, said it is fortunate for Orange County to have <br />people like Katie and Fred who are passionate about the arts. He said this old building needs <br />creative people. He said it is on the National Register of Historic Places, and he is excited <br />about the opportunity to help combine everyone’s efforts. He said his company has negotiated <br />well, and wants to make it happen.
