<br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> <br />Department on Aging <br /> <br />2. The Orange County Department on Aging has received $7,500 in grant revenue from <br />Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG) to monitor and coordinate the area’s Handy <br />Helpers programs for FY 2019-20. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of <br />these grant funds. (See Attachment 1, column 2) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> <br />Greater Chapel Hill Fire Service District <br /> <br />3. The Town of Chapel Hill provides fire protection services for the Greater Chapel Hill Fire <br />Service District. The Town of Chapel Hill Fire Department has requested the use of <br />$30,000 from the District’s available fund balance for the purchase of personal protective <br />equipment (PPE) to further their cancer prevention program (See Attachment 3). With <br />this appropriation, approximately $19,000 remains available in the district’s fund balance. <br />(See Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this item: <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> <br />Health Department <br /> <br />4. The Health Department is expecting additional funds of $39,584 for the Family Planning <br />program due to an increase in Title X funds. These federal funds pass-through the state <br />to local governments through this program. Funds received consistent with this <br />amendment will be used to increase services to uninsured patients. This budget <br />amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See Attachment 1, <br />column 4) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this item: <br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br />2
