<br />Section 111, That if a majority of those who shall vote in the area described in Section II shall vote
<br />in favor of the enlargement of the Chanel Hill City Unit by such area, that area shall be consolidated
<br />with the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit, effective July 1, 1960, and there shall thereafter
<br />be levied in such area so consolidated the sane school tar, as shall be levied in the Chapel Hill
<br />City Administrative Unit.

<br />LUTION OF THE BOARD OF C01MISSIObEIS OF CHANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, ORDERIEG AND CALLING A
<br />IAL ELECTION IN THE MITE CROSS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT SAID
<br />RICT SHALL BECOME A PART OF THE CHAPEL HILL CITY ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT.
<br />Commissioner Stanford moved the following resolution be adopted:
<br />WHEREAS, the Chanel all City Board of Education and the Orange County Board of Education by
<br />resolution dated March 7, 1960, have requested and petitioned the Board of Commissioners of Orange
<br />ounty, North Carolina, to call an election in the area comprising the White Cross School District,
<br />o determine the will of the people on theissue of whether or not this district shall become a part
<br />f the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit.
<br />AND WHEREAS, many of the citizens of the area comprising said school distriEt have urged the
<br />ounty Board of Education to take action requesting an election in said district to determine the
<br />ill of the people on the question of whether or not this district shall become a part of the Chapel
<br />ill City Administrative Unit.
<br />AHD WHEREAS, it further appearinU that the Orange County Board of Education and the Chapel Hill
<br />ity Board of Education, in compliance with North Carolina General Statutues 115-122.2, enacted as
<br />action B, Chanter 1271 of the Session Laws of 1957., have agreed with each other as to the school
<br />rooerty to be conveyed and transferred to the Board of Education of the Chapel Hill City Administrative
<br />nit, if a majority of the voters voting in the elction vote in favor of enlargement of the Chapel
<br />171 City Administrative Unit to include the White Cross School District: NOVI, THERFFO:iE,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County as follows:
<br />1. That a special election shall be held on Tuesday, April 19, 1960, in the area described
<br />the petition of the Chapel Hill City Board of Education and the Orange County Board of Education,
<br />also hereinafter set forth in the notice of special election, which area constitutes the
<br />to Cross School District of Orange County for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters
<br />said area the following question:
<br />"Shall the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit be enlarged to include the
<br />White Criss School District of Orange County and school tax of the same rate
<br />as levied in other portions of Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit be levied
<br />in the area consolidated with said City Administrative Unit?"
<br />Said election shall be held pursuant to and in accordance with the pertinent provisions of
<br />er 115, Subchapter V, of the General Statutues of North Carolina and the law governing general
<br />2. Said election shall be held at a polling place at the White Cross School Building in the
<br />its Cross School District, and the polls for said election shall open at the hour of 6:30 o'clock
<br />M. Eastern Standard Time, and shall close at the hour of 6:30 o'clock P, M. Eastern Standard
<br />me. The Board of Commissioners hereby orders a new registration of the qualified voters of said
<br />ia, as hereinafter described, comprising the said White Cross School District.
<br />3. The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of the County of Orange is hereby requested and
<br />acted to provide a polling place at the White Cross School Building in the White Cross School
<br />strict, and to provide for a registrar to register voters for said election in said District and
<br />lyes of Election to conduct said election, and to prepare the necessary ballots for votin, at
<br />d election.
<br />4. The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners 1s hereby authorized and directed to publish notice
<br />said special election in The News of Orange CountF and The Chapel Hill Weekly, newspapers
<br />:lished in Orange County, North Carolina, and having general circulation in the area referred to in
<br />a resolution at least thirty days before the date hereinabove fixed for said election and there-
<br />ter twice before the election at intervals of at least one week between publications, such notice
<br />be substantially in the following form:
