1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: December 10, 2019 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-d <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing Robin Jacobs <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners, <br /> Environment, Agriculture, Parks <br /> and Recreation (DEAPR) <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation Penny Rich, BOCC Chair <br /> David Stancil, 919-245-2510 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a proclamation recognizing Robin Jacobs for her years of service with <br /> the Association for the Preservation of the Eno River Valley (Eno River Association). <br /> BACKGROUND: Earlier this fall, Robin Jacobs retired as Executive Director and legal counsel <br /> of the Eno River Association after 15 years of service. Ms. Jacobs previously served on the <br /> Board of Directors for the Eno River Association for five years. <br /> During Ms. Jacobs' tenure as Executive Director, the Eno River Association protected 1,664 <br /> acres of important natural resource lands, many of which were in Orange County and <br /> transferred to the State for inclusion in Eno River State Park. The Association was and <br /> continues to be an important conservation partner of Orange County, with many joint <br /> conservation efforts to protect watersheds and prime and threatened farmland through <br /> conservation easements. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The following Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact is applicable to this item: <br /> • RESULTANT IMPACT ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND AIR QUALITY <br /> Assess and where possible mitigate adverse impacts created to the natural resources of <br /> the site and adjoining area. Minimize production of greenhouse gases. <br /> The actions of the Eno River Association and Ms. Jacobs have helped further this goal. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the attached proclamation recognizing and expressing appreciation to Robin <br /> Jacobs for her work with the Eno River Association. <br />
